New Grass Truck
In June of 2009, the Somers Fire and Rescue Department acquired a new 2008 Dodge one-ton chassis to replace the aging 1990 GMC grass truck. The new Dodge is diesel powered, with an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. Creature comforts include air conditioning, cruise control, AM/FM radio, and cloth seats. The cab seats five. The box was removed from the GMC, and fitted to the new chassis. A 250 gpm pump is in the rear. The lights are all low-amphere draw LEDs. A 8000 pound Warn winch is receiver mounted, and can be inserted either in the front or rear receiver.
