Remembering the Past

The 75th Celebration began with a prayer by the Somers Fire Department Chaplain Dave DeBerge. The prayer included thanks for all the 75 years that Somers Fire and Rescue personel had safely provided service to the community, and a prayer for many more years of safety to the community and the people that serve.

Loren

Assistant Fire Chief Loren Tolnai remembered the history of the Department, former Chiefs, members, and those that perished in an accident.

Chief

Chief Steve Krause spoke of the dedication of the members past and present, the changes in the Fire Service itself and how it affects Somers today.

Wickland

The Somers Fire and Rescue Association is an incorporated, not for profit, fund-raising and support organization for the Department. The Membership includes all Department members, full-time and volunteer alike. Activities also include fund raising for charitable donations for other organizations such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, St. Baldrick's, Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety Burn Camp, and others.

Somers Fire and Rescue Association President Pete Wickland told the history of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department and the Somers Rescue Squad merging to become the Somers Fire and Rescue Association.

 

Representatives

The 75th Celebration would not be complete without the presence of prominant local and state government officials.
