Buildings Set On Fire for Training

Somers Fire and Rescue were fortunate to be able to conduct fire training in several houses, garages, and out buildings in the 800-900 block of highway Y.

The buildings were slated to be razed for new construction. Pprior to being set afire, fire training was conducted with ladders, ventilation, interior fire attacks, and search and rescue. This was a good opportunity for new members as well as old members to practice their fire fighting skills.

How a fire can build: in less than five minutes!

Safety is Always a Priority

All practice burns have a pumper and seasoned crew working to protect both the fire fighters training and exposures not wishing to be burned. A new pump operator will have an experienced pump operator close at hand should any problems arise.
